Dull game results in Liverpool win at Anfield

Liverpool beat Swansea and closed the gap between themselves and the top 4 thanks to a second-half penalty from James Milner in dull game at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

In a game of few chances, a harsh penalty awarded with half an hour to go allowed James Milner to take the three points for the Reds in what, in the end, was a comfortable win.

The big chance of the first half fell early on for Liverpool as Ibe burst into the box, prompting defender Kyle Bartley to make a tackle and rattle his own post.

The Liverpool fans received a boost before the game as it was announced that both Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge were both fit to make the bench. Both players came on and got their first minutes for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.

The result helped Liverpool climb to 6th in the league, 6 points off Manchester City at the top of the table, while Swansea are struggling, just one win in 11 for them, and boss Garry Monk is becoming under more and more pressure.
