Liverpool captain and legend Steven Gerrard is out of contract at the end of the season, and manager Brendan Rodgers insists the midfielder will not be offered a definite contract.
Gerrard has started 18 of Liverpool’s games this season, and he doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of aging just yet, but Brendan Rodgers will not be forced to renew his contract, even though he is a Liverpool legend. “It is certainly not sentimental (to offer new terms to Gerrard),” Rodgers said. “As the manager of this club you can’t afford to do that. Look at his contribution in the two years that I’ve been here.”
If Gerrard does not sign a new deal with the Reds, Manchester City have reported interest in his services.
