Liverpool would have challenged the title if they signed Declan Rice this summer.
The Reds have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo this summer to address their midfield problems.
But they haven’t perfect addressed the holding midfield issue as Mac Allister has struggled to find his feet at the Merseyside club.
Liverpool looks way better than last season and are certainly one of the teams to challenge for the title this year.
But pundit Gary Neville has questioned the defensive stability in the middle of the park.
He claims Liverpool could have easily challenged the title if they had Declan Rice in their ranks.
Neville said: “The midfield, it’s attacking. Has it got the defensive stability of what we’ve seen here today, when Rodri comes back in and when you see Rice and Partey and Jorginho.
“Have they got that defensive stability, Liverpool? If you put Declan Rice in Liverpool’s holding midfield position, or you put Rodri in there, I’d be saying Liverpool will definitely be on for the title.”
