Mikel Arteta heaps praise on his team after statement win against Manchester City.
The Gunners earned a late 1-0 victory over title-holders Manchester City to move two points above them in the league table.
The result left Arsenal tied with Tottenham Hotspur on 20 points and ending their run of 12 consecutive top-flight defeats to Pep Guardiola’s side.
This was a statement win against the Premier League champions and Mikel Arteta was delighted with the maturity of his squad.
Arsenal claimed a first Premier League victory over Guardiola’s men in 13 attempts last night.
“A great feeling. You could sense it’s been so many years without beating them. Today I think we beat the best team in the world without a question of a doubt,” Arteta said.
“Certainly it sends a message to the team to keep believing in what they’re doing because they’re a fantastic group of players.
“The way they try and the chemistry that they have, you need it to be there. So, I’m really proud.
“The team showed a real maturity today, that comes from experiences. Sometimes you need that to become a better team.”
