LMA dismisses transfer market for managers

The League Managers’ Association has rejected talks of a transfer window for the club’s managers as they don’t think it will improve anything in the game.

The English game is known for severe sackings year in, year out, and so far this campaign, 19 managers have left their positions, with seven departures coming in the last eight days.

According to the LMA, 17 of the managers that have left their job this season were sacked and the other two actually chose to leave their roles.

However, Richard Bevan, the chief executive of the LMA has advised the managers to talk to the club’s chairmans more rather than introduce a transfer period for managers.

“It is not just the 19 managers, last week was a pretty heavy week,” he told Sky Sports News. “We lost, in total, 27 people and that is a lot of families. We have 48 clubs who have a manager who has been in his job for less than a year.

“We need to help our managers. They have got to perform off the pitch as well as on it. Around 30 per cent of managers are getting sacked because of relationships.

“I’m up for discussing anything which will increase that tenure and help the club as well as the managers and coaches.

“But I’m not so sure about transfer windows. I’m not sure the transfer window works at the moment and one for managers may actually increase the number of sackings.”
