Chelsea striker Loic Remy has revealed why he decided to leave Queens Park Rangers in the Summer.

The French international was wanted by three of England’s top clubs throughout the Summer, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all interested, but it was the latter that finally sign the QPR-man.

Arsenal were believed to be interested after the 27-year-old was spotted at the Emirates Stadium watching one of their matches late last season, but then Liverpool had a deal agreed to sign the striker, which only fell through after Remy reportedly failed his medical at Anfield.

That left Chelsea with the clean-route to his signature, and after having an ÂŁ8million offer accepted, Remy completed his switch to Stamford Bridge, and in a recent interview, he has revealed why he chose The Bridge.

“When opportunities like this happen, you can not refuse. It happened late in life,” he said.

“In my head, I quite wanted to stay at QPR, but I did not hesitate for one second for many reasons.

“The move was for my improvement, for my confidence, in terms of level of demand. Chelsea is one of the best clubs in the world.”

“I’m happy to have signed for a club like this. I know I’m not going to be the first striker, but nothing is set,” he added.

“I have goals. By signing at Chelsea, I did not say it was to stay on the sidelines.

“I will try to move up alongside great players. The rest will happen naturally.”
