Liverpool custodian Loris Karius already made himself a subject of social media trolling with his errors in the Champions League final. Karius produced another blunder in Liverpool’s ICC match against Borussia Dortmund. Only this one did not lead to a goal. During the early minutes of the match, Karius came a long way out of goal to clear a ball. However, his clearance reached the feet of Maximillian Philipp who took a shot immediately with Loris way out of his goal.
Luckily for Liverpool, Philipp’s shot was wide. However, the criticism would not stop for Loris Karius. The German took to instagram to respond to criticism. Karius wrote, “To those who take joy in seeing other people fail or suffer, I feel for you. Whatever it is thats (sic) happening in your life to hold this much anger and hate, I pray that it passes and good things come to you.”
Even though Alisson has arrived at Liverpool, Klopp did not rule out giving Karius chances. “Obviously Alisson is a world-class goalkeeper, so we’re not going to say, ‘Let’s have a look’,” said Klopp. “He will play, of course. He is the No 1 for Brazil and then there is the fee. When Alisson is ready, he will be in our goal. We all need to help him so he can perform as good as possible. That is maybe the only difference.
“But for that to happen we need a strong squad around him and Loris is an outstanding goalkeeper. That’s the truth. Nothing else.”
