Liverpool were heavily linked with Paris Saint-Germain defender

Lucas Digne has revealed there was interest in him from the Premier League before he decided to join AS Roma on a season-long loan.

Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool were strongly linked with signing the left-back in order to provide competition for Alberto Moreno. However, new summer signing Joe Gomez has seemingly filled that role for Rodgers.

As well as Liverpool, it was reported that Arsenal were showing interest in him just in case Nacho Monreal left the club. The Spaniard was linked with a move back to La Liga with Athletic Bilbao interested in signing him.

However, neither of the Premier League teams managed to land Digne as he chose a temporary move to Roma instead for the 2015/2016 campaign.

Speaking in a recent interview, the full-back has admitted that interest was shown from England, but choosing Roma was an easy choice for him.

Digne Reveals Interest

He told L’Equipe: “[Coach Rudi] Garcia had a big impact on my decision to come here, but he wasn’t the only reason, since Roma have been interested in me for years.

“I’d received offers from England too, but I realised that Roma was the club I wanted the most. I’m here on loan, so I can’t say how long I’ll be here, but I’ll give everything for this shirt.”
