Lucas Hernandez has lifted the lid on why he decided to quit Atletico Madrid this summer. The Frenchman, who is currently on international duty at Clairefontaine, joined Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in an €80m deal.
“I spent a lot of time at Madrid, I was looking for something more,” he fold Canal Football club. “A new culture, a new mentality.”
“It’s true that it’s an astonishing organization, it’s an enormous club,” he said about his short time so far at Bayern. “Everything went very fast. A year and a half ago, nobody knew me in France, and nobody thought a club could pay €80 million for me.”
Atletico had initially managed to convince Hernandez to stay until summer as he decided to leave in winter. The following six months was just a waiting period for the Frenchman before he actually departed.
Following their international break, Hernandez will return to action with Bayern Munich as the Bavarians take on RB Leipzig in an important Bundesliga clash.
