Luke Shaw is set to be offered a new deal as Manchester United want are hoping to tie up the player for a prolonged future.
Shaw had been pushed to the edge and was supposed to see out his current contract which expires at the end of this season. But the left back has redefined himself with a number of exemplary performances and has established himself at the club with back to back starts in the Premier League this season.
Shaw’s rapid development has forced Ashley Young to the bench who had been the preferred choice for Jose Mourinho last season. But the gaffer seems to be impressed by Shaw’s progress and commitment and is likely to sanction a new five year deal for the youngster.
According to reports, Shaw is about to get a steep pay rise in the new contract and would pocket around £150,000 should he sign on the dotted line. Shaw’s impressive form also helped him in getting back to the England fold as he appeared for the Three Lions in the UEFA Nations League.
The defender has withdrawn from the Three Lions squad due to an injury and it remains to be seen whether he gets fit in time for the crucial Chelsea clash.
