Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Chelsea did not show any interest to sign winger Nabil Fekir. Even though Fekir was a Liverpool target during the summer transfer window, he was strongly linked to Chelsea as well. Fekir almost sealed a move to Liverpool before the deal fell through due to Fekir’s knee-injury history.

Aulas said, “In the beginning, when we thought about our summer transfer window and how to organise the future squad, we thought that he was practically gone. That’s why we have been able to adapt things. We spoke with Chelsea representatives, and they had no interest at all in him. From then on, we realised we could change our plans [because Nabil would stay].”

Previously, Lyon’s manager Bruno Genesio said how Fekir reacted to the calling off of the Liverpool deal.

Fekir came on as a substitute during Lyon’s 2-0 win over Strasbourg. However, the Lyon captain can hope to play his first match of the season when Lyon take on Nice on Saturday.
