Roma have denied that Kevin Strootman will join Man United in January. The Italians have just been knocked out of the Champions League and some reports had claimed that due to this, they were willing to listen to offers for the midfielder.
With Van Gaal desperate to sign him, it was believed a £30m deal had been put in place to see 24-year old move to Old Trafford next month. However, these reports have been denied by Roma’s general manager Mauro Baldissoni, who claims the Red Devils have yet to contact them and that even if they did they wouldn’t be willing to sell Strootman.
He told Sky Sports: “We haven’t received any call from Manchester. We are not planning to sell Kevin.”
But this is unlikely to put Van Gaal off and it is expected that he will still try to sign the midfielder come January.
