Inter Milan had launched a move to try and sign him
Matteo Darmian will NOT be on the move before the transfer deadline, after an approach from Inter Milan was turned down.
The right-back may struggle for more first-team action this season, with Fosu-Mensah having emerged as the next young talent from United’s youth ranks and with Valencia having an impressive pre-season.
The 26-year old played 39 times for the Red Devils last season, as he began to establish himself as the club’s first-choice right-back. However, this year he has yet to feature and it could be a lot harder for him to get action this year.
With Valencia and Fosu-Mensah now in line for more starting spots – leaving Darmian confined to the bench – Inter were eager to capitalise and bring him back to Italy with the promise of consistent gametime for the club.
However, the Red Devils clearly still have him in their plans, as the Serie A side’s bid for the Italian was turned down and it looks like he will be staying at Old Trafford.
Inter on the other hand will have to look elsewhere to strengthen their defensive ranks, as the transfer window draws to a close.
