Manchester United set to bid for Sergej Milinković-Savić.

Michael Carrick is going to retire at the end of the season, the time has come for Manchester United to begin identifying potential replacements for their outgoing skipper.

According to reports in Italy, Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savić is top of José Mourinho’s summer wishlist.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be keeping tabs on the 23-year-old and signing him is therefore unlikely to be easy or cheap.

The Serbian international is widely regarded to be the best midfielder in Serie A at the moment and has so far contributed an impressive 11 goals in 37 appearances this season.

Lazio will force United to break the British transfer record again like Juventus did in 2016, by demanding in excess of €150m for a player they believe will go on to be one of the stars of his generation.

If the bid fails, United will turn their heads towards Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal, who is expected to leave the German giants this summer and has previously been linked with Chelsea and Inter.
