Man United told to appoint Xabi Alonso instead of Graham Potter.
The Red Devils has been urged to snub Graham Potter and appoint Real Madrid and Liverpool icon Xabi Alonso to replace Erik ten Hag as the manager.
If Ten Hag loses his job, Potter is widely reported to be the top target for United.
The Dutchman has come under scrutiny for underdelivering this season after United was eliminated from Europe after a disastrous Champions League campaign.
The Red Devils has lost seven out of their opening 17 league games and Ten Hag could face the sack when Sir Jim Ratcliffe takes control over the club.
Liverpool legend Steve McManaman claims United should pursue a manager with recent success and labels Xabi Alonso as the ideal candidate.
Xabi Alonso has led Bayer Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga this season.
He said: “Why not pick a manager that has just won the league somewhere? Why not go for Xabi Alonso who’s at the top of the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen?
“Why go for a manager that’s been out of work for eight months and had a failed experience at Chelsea? I’m not saying this is a failure on the behalf of Graham Potter.
“I don’t believe Erik ten Hag will even leave Manchester United, but I’d be incredibly surprised if Graham was on the shortlist for one of the biggest jobs in world football.”
