The Africa Cup of Nations is the main international association football competition in Africa.

It is held by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and was first held in 1957. Since 1968, it has been held every two years. The title-holders at the time of a FIFA Confederations Cup automatically qualify for the competition.

Arsenal Premier League Players in African Cup of Nations 2023

There will be two Arsenal players in this year’s African Cup of Nations. They are Egypt’s Mohamed Elneny, and Ghana’s Thomas Parte.

Elneny is one of Egypt’s most experienced players with 89 Premier League appearances to his name but he made only five appearances for Arsenal last season. This is Elneny’s fourth AFCON as he was a part of Egypt’s squad for the previous AFCON in 2021. Elneny opened the scoring for Egypt in the final against Cameroon in 2017 which Egypt eventually lost.

Only one Aston Villa player will take part in the 24-team competition in Ivory Coast this January. Winger Bertrand Traore will represent his country Burkina Faso.

Rayan Ait-Nouri recently switched his allegiances from France earlier this year. He has been one of the most consistent performers for Wolves and has attracted attention from Premier League stalwarts Liverpool and Manchester City.

Traore has mostly been seen on the bench and managed only ten appearances in all competitions.

West Ham United Premier League Players in African Cup of Nations 2023

The Hammers would miss four players due to the AFCON 2023. Algeria’s Said Benrahma, Morocco’s Nayef Aguerd, Ivory Coast’s Maxwel Cornet and Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus will miss a month of Premier League action.
