Goals from Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney were enough to guide Manchester United to a 2-0 victory over Premier League new boys Crystal Palace and this is what the two managers had to say after the game.
Manchester United’s David Moyes:
“I thought we played well but I thought we needed to score a few more goals with the build up play we managed.”
On Wayne Rooney: “He tired a bit in the second half but I thought he was great in everything that he did. I wanted him to get 90 minutes under his belt which is important with the busy week we have coming up.”
Crystal Palace’s Ian Holloway:
“My opinion doesn’t count because the result is the result and I have just got to deal with it.
“I literally can’t afford it so I can’t say a word [about the penalty and sending off] and let everyone else judge it. He [the referee] has a difficult job to do though especially at Old Trafford which such a noisy partisan crowd.
“I am very disappointed we lost the game but not in the manner in which we lost it or the way my players behaved and conducted themselves.”
