Manchester City development manager Patrick Vieira believes the club made a mistake when they missed out on signing Paul Pogba on a free transfer after he left rivals Manchester United.

Now playing for Juventus, the Frenchman has been labelled as one of the best midfielder’s in the world after putting on some superb displays for both club and country, which also includes scoring several world-class strikes.

City are now just one of several top-flight clubs that are interested in Pogba after he has become a sensation since leaving Old Trafford for free.

‘He is a player I really like,’ Vieira told French newspaper L’Equipe.

‘I saw him play for Manchester United and to not have signed him when he left that club was a mistake because he is an extraordinary player.

‘Many tell me that [he plays like I do]. I think he is more attacking than me and perhaps more technically skilled. He’s amazing’
