Manchester City are attempting to hijack the £64 million signing of Angel Di Maria from rivals Manchester United, reports say. It is believed that the Argentine’s agent will fly out to England in the coming days to discuss the deal with the Red Devils. However, The Times are now reporting that City are now firmly in the race for the 26-year-old’s signature after the club reportedly told Di Maria to delay proceedings with United, to give City time to prepare a big-money bid for the Argentinian. Part of City’s preperations are to sell Spaniard Alvaro Negredo, intently to raise about £50 million woth of funds for Di Maria’s transfer. United, though, still remain favourites to sign Di Maria despite being told by Real Madrid it will cost them £63.9 million for the Argentine’s services, which would be a record domestic fee.
