The Red Devils are reported to be interested in France international Antoine Griezmann
The 24-year-old is now a prime target for United after losing out on Barcelona’s Pedro, according to the Daily Mail.
Griezmann only joined Madrid last year but there is growing speculation that he could be about to leave Spain, with a number of Europe’s top clubs chasing his signature.
United’s Premier League rivals, Chelsea, were linked with the former Real Sociedad forward but have reportedly cooled their interest after capturing Pedro from Barcelona.
The Spain international was heavily linked with a move to United but has now decided to join Chelsea which has prompted United to enquire about Griezmann, according to reports.
United may have to offer big-money to lure Griezmann to Old Trafford – he has five years left on his current contract and a reported buy-out clause of £50million.
Louis Van Gaal interested in Mane
Following the news Pedro has reportedly decided to join Chelsea instead of United, manager Louis Van Gaal has turned his attentions to Southampton’s Sadio Mane.
The Manchester club are thought to have lodged a bid for the 23-year-old last week but the Saints are denying they have received one.
Mane joined Southampton last year from Red Bull Salzburg and scored 10 goals in 32 appearances, including the fastest ever Premier League hat-trick, during a 6-1 win against Aston Villa.
Should the Senegal international move to Old Trafford, he would become the third player to do so over the past two seasons, following Luke Shaw and Morgan Schneiderlin.
