Red Devils have made ‘discreet enquiries’ according to reports
Manchester United are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, according to reports.
The Red Devils currently have just three strikers at the club, with two of them being on the fringes of the first-team. James Wilson and Javier Hernandez are seen as the backup options to Wayne Rooney, but with concerns over the Englishman’s fitness levels, Louis Van Gaal wants to add another option to his squad.
United sold Robin Van Persie to Fenerbahce and also lost Radamel Falcao as he returned to AS Monaco after his season-long loan deal expired.
Hunt for Striker
Despite saying he’s happy with his options, Van Gaal then admitted that there could be a mystery bid launched for a striker, with some reports claiming it would be Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
However, since then, the Frenchman has penned a contract extension at the Ligue 1 club, all-but ruling that move out.
Fresh reports are now claiming that Van Gaal could still be interested in Kane from Spurs and could make a £40million bid to sign the striker.
The 22-year-old had a breakthrough season last year, scoring 31 goals in all competitions, and Van Gaal is ready to take a huge risk on him, hoping he will be able to repeat his achievements of last year.
According to the reports, United have made ‘discreet enquiries’ about the striker and could be prepared to pay as high as £40m.
