January could see a spending bonanza from Manchester United, with boss Louis van Gaal eyeing three transfers which between them will total a staggering £80million.
The Red Devils appear confident of securing all three players they currently have their eyes on; The Benfica duo, Enzo Perez and Nicolas Gaitan, and Roma star Kevin Strootman. The latter has been United’s No.1 target for some time.
Van Gaal has had his scouts watching the Benfica pair and is hoping to have a double offer worth around £51million accepted, whilst the £30million rated Strootman has long been expected to arrive at Old Trafford in the New Year.
Strootman is still recovering from a long-term knee injury, but with van Gaal having built his World Cup national team around him, it is no secret the influential Dutchman admires the defensive midfielder greatly.
Gaitan (26) and Perez (28) are both Argentinian internationals, and both midfielders, Gaitan being the more attack minded. They are both highly rated and very experienced on the big stage.
