Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs thinks that Luke Shaw is a terrific exponent in his position when he’s fully fit. The 23-year old has not been a regular at the club ever since his injury in a Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven in September, 2015.  However, he has made a strong start to this season with a sensational performance against Leicester City. Shaw scored the club’s second goal. Jose Mourinho said of his performance, “The game was very complete, even if I forget the goal, of course an important goal for us, but the performance was very complete.

And now, Ryan Giggs has also praised Shaw. The Manchester United legend said, “I’ve said a lot of times that Luke Shaw has got the quality and he’s also got great strength, but he’s not really had a real run since the horrific leg break (against PSV).  He’s had a great pre-season, came back looking fit and a Luke Shaw at the top of his game is the best left-back Manchester United and England have got.

He was unfortunate Ashley Young was so consistent last season, but that’s got to serve as a reminder that he’s got to keep hold of that place now. I’m just happy to see him back fit and scoring goals because I’m a big fan of Luke and he’s a great lad as well, so I just hope he has a great season.”

Shaw is hoping to be fit throughout the season and be a regular starter for United. The 23-year old said, “Mentally, over the summer, it was quite hard. I really wanted to be at the World Cup and it pushed me on even more during pre-season. Back in the second season with [Louis] van Gaal, I did a trip to Dubai and came back feeling really good. It’s similar to this time. I did it again. I’ve come back really fit, ready to go, and I think this is my season hopefully.”

Even though Ashley Young is fully fit at present, Shaw will be hoping that his performance against Leicester will be sufficient to start againts Brighton and Hove Albion tomorrow.
