Manchester United have made a bid for Southampton defender Luke Shaw.
The Englishman has caught the eye of both United and also rivals Chelsea, but David Moyes has made the first official move by making a ÂŁ22.5million bid for the 18-year-old, who is labelled as Ashley Cole’s long-term replacement in the England set-up.
It had been reported that Chelsea offered ÂŁ21m to Southampton, but United officials are confident that they can open talks with The Saints over the weekend, and will promise Shaw first-team football as soon as he signs, which will see the end of Patrice Evra’s career at Old Trafford.
Both clubs are looking for left-back replacements as Evra is set to leave in the Summer after his contract expires, and as for Chelsea, they are keen to find a replacement for Ashley Cole.
