Manchester United are interested in signin Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermaelen as they prepare for life without Nemanja Vidic.
The Serbian centre-back is on his way to Inter Milan in the Summer once his contract expires, and it is now down to David Moyes to find a replacement for one of United’s best ever central defenders.
Despite being club-captain at the Emirates Stadium, Vermaelen’s first-team opportunities have been limited due to the impressive partnership between Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.
The Belgium defender has only made a handful of starts this season for Arsene Wenger’s side, and Moyes believes he could be the right man to replace outgoing Vidic.
It is reported that Arsenal will ask for around £12million for the 28-year-old, who joined the club from Ajax for £10m.
