Mourinho is serious about signing Vidal

Manchester United are in the market for a midfielder to replace veteran Michael Carrick who is set to retire at the end of the season. With Fellaini also set to leave this summer on a free transfer as his contract expires, United are looking for someone who could play alongside Nemanja Matic with Vidal on their sights.

Jose Mourinho has identified Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal as the midfielder he want to sign. According to La Cuarta, Manchester United are set to bid €48 million for Vidal and willing to offer him a 4 year contract. He could earn up to €14.4 million per season.

Vidal whose contract is set to expire next summer and yet there has been no new contract talks between the club and player. Bayern are likely to make a decision about midfielder’s future this summer. If they don’t reach to an agreement, Bayern will most likely to cash in on him this summer than to lose him for free next summer.

Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich, who also represents Alexis Sanchez, is already in England to hold talks with United over a potential deal according to reports. With Chilean high on Mourinho’s shortlist, it is most likely United will make a bid for him.

Antonio Conte had  also wanted to sign Vidal for Chelsea  according to reports in Chile. The Chelsea boss even described the 31 year old, who he managed at Juventus, as a ‘world-class player’ during the January transfer window. But Chelsea’s hierarchy refused to meet Conte’s demands and instead signed Ross Barkley from Everton.
