Manchester United would be forced to pay Real Madrid an extra £4million if Angel Di Maria ever wins the Ballon d’Or whilst playing for the Premier League side.
The clause was inserted into the deal by the Spanish giants, who were keen to add bonuses into Di Maria’s transfer to Old Trafford, and it was a deal that was agreed by both United and Di Maria’s representatives.
Despite the add-on being a rather unusual one, Manchester United were fine with the addition to the deal as they believe that if the Argentinian does win the prestigous award, they would be benefitting from it and would be prepared to pay an extra £4m for his performances.
Di Maria was on fire during international duty as his starred in Argentina’s 4-2 victory over World Cup winners, Germany, with Di Maria scoring one and assisting three.
