Arsenal and Manchester United dealt transfer blows

Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United have both been dealt transfer setbacks with the news that Marco Verratti is happy at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italian midfielder was strongly linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 champions over the summer, but nothing formal materialised from the reported interested.

However, after the window shut, Arsenal and United were once again linked with making formal moves in the New Year once the January window opened up.

The 22-year-old has quickly become one of the top midfielders in Europe, with his agent saying he would cost clubs around £72million, but Verratti himself has confirmed that he has no intentions of leaving PSG.

Verratti Happy in France

He told Canal Football Club: “It is an issue that is irrelevant now.

“It’s nice when big teams are interested in you but my priority was always to stay at PSG.

“I am grateful to the club and I’m happy here. I don’t see why I would leave.”
