Agent confirms Premier League clubs want right-back

FC Barcelona defender Martin Montoya is attracting interest from the Premier League, according to his agent.

The right-back is expected to leave the Nou Camp this season after failing to break into their first-team under Luis Enrique and there are several clubs all fighting for his signature.

Interested Parties

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of the Spaniard, but reports emerged the other day that Juventus could be firm favourites to sign him as he wants to play in the Champions League.

As well as Liverpool, both Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with signing the 24-year-old in recent times.

Speaking about his client’s future, Montoya‘s agent admitted that interest is high from England, but there are also interested teams coming from Italy and Germany.

It’s not yet understood which teams in Germany are interested, but it’s Serie A champions Juventus that are showing interest from Italy.

However, Juan de Dios Carrasco refused to give any names of interested parties.

Agent Confirms Interest

He told IBTimes: “I can say there are some clubs in England [who are] very interested in Martin Montoya, but also in Italy and Germany [too].

“I cannot confirm the names of the English clubs interested yet.

“We have to think about everything and see what is best for the future of the player.”

Barca Expect Departure

These quotes from the agent comes days after Barcelona‘s international sporting director, Ariedo Braida, admitted that Montoya could be set for a Summer exit.

He said: “In the next few days we will speak with Montoya’s agent and we will take a decision.

“The possibilities of him going are concrete.”

Right-Back Dealt Further Blow

Montoya’s first team chances at Barca were dented even further recently with the news that Dani Alves has signed a new deal and also the arrival of Sevilla full-back Aleix Vidal.
