Liverpool defender makes U-turn on decision

Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel has given the club some much-needed good news after deciding to stay at Anfield and sign a new deal.

It was looking likely that the 30-year-old would be leaving Merseyside after Liverpool‘s board offered him a contract deemed ‘unacceptable’ by the defender, but it’s been revealed that a compromise has finally been reached.

First Offer Snubbed/Compromise Made

Skrtel was offered a ‘pay-as-you-play’ deal due to his age, but the Slovak was left fuming with the offer, stating that only injury-prone players or older players should be offered such a deal.

It’s not understood what compromise the parties have come to, but Skrtel’s agent has admitted that a deal has been agreed and his client has snubbed a move away from the club.

Th Slovakian was wanted by Serie A side Inter Milan, and his agent has admitted that interest was there before signing a new deal at Anfield.

Skrtel’s Agent Reveals Plans

“I confess that there were not mere rumours, the interest from Inter was real,” said Karol Csonto.

“But then the deal did not go ahead, there was contact made.

“The player had been thinking about his future and eventually opted to remain at Liverpool.

“As this time I can say that it is likely [he will sign a new contract].”

The deal will be finalised and concluded once the centre-back returns from his holidays.
