Liverpool defender, Martin Skrtel, has admitted that he does not feel guilty for his stamp on Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea.

The Slovak international has been charged by the FA for violent conduct and will now miss The Reds’ next three matches, including a top-four clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next weekend.

However, when asked about the incident and the ban, Skrtel admitted that he doesn’t feel guilty about it.

“I didn’t want to stamp on him. It was an accident and I didn’t do it on purpose.

“I don’t feel guilty. It was a long ball and he went towards me and I wanted to jump over him. Simple as that.”

Skrtel was chasing a through ball in the dying moments of the game at Anfield before landing on De Gea’s ankle as the Spaniard rushed out to collect the loose ball.
