Chelsea defender John Terry believes he was offered a new deal at the club due to his relentless desire to win.
The Blues announced the 12-month deal late last night and Terry has confirmed that his passion for the game and his desire to win everything is the main reason behind the club wanting to keep him around.
Due to his age, Chelsea will only offer him one-year deals from now on, but after the latest one has been signed, the skipper is already looking forward to the future and the next contract.
Terry fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge under Rafael Benitez, but since Jose Mourinho’s return, he has re-found his old form and he believes it’s down to his desire to win the big matches.
When asked about his key attributes, Terry replied: “Hunger, hard work, wanting to win.
“I’m delighted to stay for another year. And hopefully there could be a few more years after this.”
On Mourinho, he added: “The honesty that he had with me when he first took over, basically: ‘play well and stay in the team. If not there will be other players that will come in and step in’.
