Before Tottenham Hotspur were thrashed 5-0 by Liverpool at White Hart Lane yesterday, it was a Spurs fan that was having all the laughs after Olivia Brown pulled a prank on striker Luis Suarez before kick-off.
When the two teams were lining-up in the usual fashion, Spurs and their mascots then made their way towards to Liverpool players, and the first mascot was a small 10-year-old girl named Olivia.
Everything was normal and going smoothly until she put her hand out to shake Suarez’s hand, and as the Uruguayan did the same gesture, the girl quickly snatcher her hand away and stuck her tongue out, much to the amusement of the girl and luckily, of Suarez too
In an interview today though, it was in fact her Dad that told her to do the handshake snub after he revealed that he bet her £20 to do it.
‘I said I’d give her £20 to give him the thumb to the nose and the twiddly fingers,’ Mr Brown told Bedforshire on Sunday.
‘Afterwards she came back to our seats and said ‘dad I’ve done it’ and I told her I didn’t see it and she said he just laughed and then she asked for her £20.
‘Suarez isn’t the nicest character so I just wanted her to do it. He’s a great striker though and when you watch the footage you can see it was a bit of fun, it was all good-natured because she laughed and he did too. It’s made my day – it’s just hilarious.’
