Louis van Gaal is so desperate to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger that he is willing to sell January signing Juan Mata in order to make it happen.
It seems that Mata is already on his way out of United despite only being signed this year by ex-boss David Moyes, with Barcelona appearing to be the front-runners in the hunt for the Spaniard. Van Gaal wants to get rid of Mata in order to make way for German midfielder Schweinsteiger, who’s Bayern team-mates Toni Kroos and Arjen Robben have already confirmed that they will be staying at the Allianz this summer and not moving to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal is keen to sign the German as the two know each other well from the Dutchman’s time as Bayern manager, and van Gaal is now ready to listen to offers for Mata in order to get his man.
