Tottenham Hotspur are due to face Arsenal on Wednesday for their Carabo Cup quarter-final match and Mauricio Pochettino states that he is no longer concerned with the rivalry between the two.

Just last week, the Argentinian also claimed that Chelsea were their current rivals only to indicate the progress his team has made as a club. Tottenham currently are third in the Premier League standings, 6 points behind leaders, Liverpool.

They are also set to go up against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage. However, the last time they met Arsenal was at the Emirates and Pochettino’s men were handed a 4-2 defeat.

The Gunners are 5 points behind them in the league are also competing for a spot in the top four.

Speaking to the press before the midweek fixture, Pochettino said, “If you lose your focus, focus on another club, maybe you need to improve if you are to achieve the thing you are dreaming of.”

“Tottenham was a little way loose in focus [in the past] and I think now the focus is to improve yourself, compete, and the challenge is to be better every season. The consequence will be to be above some clubs but the focus is never on another club like Arsenal.”

Tottenham might be better placed than Arsenal in both the domestic and European stages but are yet to register any silverware since the introduction of Pochettino. The Cup fixture will be a testament to Pochettino’s perspective.
