Tottenham Hotspur have officially contacted the UEFA into allowing them to play the Round Of 16 Champions League fixture against Dortmund at their newly renovated home ground, White Hart Lane.

UEFA regulations state that a team has to play all seasonal games in the same location which in this case is the Wembley for Spurs. They played all 3 group games at their temporary home, just like they have been for the past 18 months, as the Lane undergoes construction.

Now, Tottenham predicts that their home ground will be fresh and ready for use by the time February 13th rolls around. Spectators are expected to be more drawn towards the club’s home base, which could play a part in helping Tottenham progress to the next stage of the competition.

UEFA has declined to comment on the matter but are currently in contact with the club. There is a slim chance of Tottenham’s request going through in accordance with the governing body’s ‘in principle’ clause.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have shown their ambitions this season by holding Barcelona to a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou. They will be eager to turn their previous season disappointments around and make their presence felt in Europe’s biggest stage.
