Barcelona sees Eriksen as Iniesta’s long term replacement
Andreas Iniesta is one of the greatest players of all time and has been the mainstay for Barcelona and Spain for their most successful period. He has been at Barcelona throughout his career and has been a selfless servant for them. But he is now 34 years old and cannot be a part of all the club’s game and it’s high time for the Spanish giants to find a long term replacement for him.
Barcelona have identified Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen as potential replacement.
Eriksen came through the famous youth Academy of Ajax and was believed to reach greatness. He performed constantly good in the Eredivisie league and caught attention of many top European clubs. Tottenham won the race to sign the Denmark international in 2013 and since then he has gone on to become one of the best players in the Premier League.
Tottenham wants to keep hold of him for as long as possible but many clubs are still interested in signing him with Barcelona recently to show interest in him.
But Lionel Messi has told Barcelona to not to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham this summer, reports Don Balon . Messi believes that the 27 year old is too similar to Ivan Rakitic to make a difference. And arrival of Philippe Coutinho has already eased the pressure on club’s midfield.
It’s true Barcelona midfield are crowded currently and it would be a shame to waste Eriksen’s talent if he couldn’t feature in the starting 11.
