Michael Laudrop will not sign a striker…..

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrop has confirmed that he will not be signing a striker in the New Year once the January transfer window opens, despite him currently having no fit fowards available.

Summer signing Wilfried Bony is currenty sidelined with a hamstring injury, whilst Michu is out with an ankle problem.

The double injury to their star-strikers meant that Alvaro Vasquez started against Newcastle United on Wednesday night, but he suffered a groin problem in the first-half, and now he is set for time on the sidelines.

Laurdrop has confirmed that Michu is the closest to being fit, but he is still a major doubt for this weekend’s game against Hull City, and with the busy festive period around the corner, The Swans will be desperate to regain some forward options.

“In maybe a couple of weeks all three will be back,” said Laudrup.

“We have three and it is a case right now that all three are injured,” said Laudrup.

“That’s a coincidence, but if that happens when you have injuries in the same position, well you can’t buy six forwards just thinking maybe there will be a couple of games during the season when four of them are injured.

“You can’t do that. You have to prepare the squad and when we have three, normally that should be enough.”
