Mikel Arteta admits he’s working on his touchline behaviour.

The Spaniard received immense criticism for his conduct on the touchline last season and has already been booked two times this term.

This means that a third yellow card will automatically result in a one-game touchline ban.

The 41-year-old coach is trying to make a conscious effort to improve his behaviour on the touchline.

He has garnered attention in the past for aggressively protesting with officials on multiple occasions.

Arteta has admitted that he’s trying to work on his behaviour after letting the club down in the past with his antics.

“Sometimes when I look at myself and I’m so agitated I think it can sometimes give an image that is not the best, mainly for the club,” he told reporters on Friday.

“It’s difficult to accept some decisions when you are in the heat (of the moment), because you are representing the club and you want to defend them. That’s what drives me.

“It’s to defend the players, to defend the club. Nothing else. It’s not about me.

“I think I am changing. If you think differently, let me know. But I have made a conscious effort.”
