Mikel Arteta has hailed match-winner Kai Havertz.

The German attacker scored his second goal for the Gunners since joining Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer.

Kai Havertz has been under immense scrutiny for his lack of power in front of goal since arriving at the Emirates.

Arsenal were struggling to find the back of the net against Brentford and Mikel Arteta decided to bring on Kai Havertz will just 11 minutes left to play.

The Gunners knew that a three-point haul would put them at the top of the Premier League table after Liverpool and Man City’s stalemate.

Mikel Arteta singled out Havertz who came off the bench to score the match winner.

“When things come easy, you don’t value them. If things would have come easier today, he’s [probably] not getting the reception that he got; everybody hugging him and cuddling him, and telling him how much we love him, and it’s for a reason,” Arteta said in his post-game press conference.

“He fully deserves it, and when you’re there and sometimes you have to face it, he’s done it, he’s faced it, he didn’t hide. I knew he wasn’t going to do that, so I had to push him!”
