Liverpool win in Helsinki as Manchester City lose in Stuttgart
Liverpool and Manchester City were in pre-season action yesterday with The Reds taking on Helsinki and City playing Stuttgart.
With the Premier League 2015/2016 campaign getting underway this time next week, the two clubs played in their last official friendlies and for Liverpool it was a good way to enter the new season.
Liverpool Win/City Lose
Goals from Divock Origi and Philippe Coutinho gave Brendan Rodgers‘ men a 2-0 win in Finland to end their pre-season on a high not, but as for City, theirs ended in a 4-2 defeat.
Manuel Pellegrini‘s men were 4-0 down at half-time after a defensive meltdown in Germany, but second-half goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Edin Dzeko gave City some credibility before full-time.
Raheem Sterling impressed once again for The Citizens setting up the two goals, but the defensive woes in the first-half will concern Pellegrini ahead of the new season.
