Chelsea midfielder Mohamed Salah turned down a move to Liverpool in January due to feeling disrespected by the club’s officials.

The Egyptian was keen on signing for Brendan Rodgers’ side last month and was close to agreeing a move until Jose Mourinho made a last minute bid for the midfielder and eventually managed to hijack the deal.

With no real reasons given as to why Salah made a late decision to ditch Liverpool for Chelsea, many people just assumed the Egyptian preferred a move to Stamford Bridge over Anfield.

However, according to reports, Salah and his representitives were left disrespected by the Merseyside-based club after they started negotiations seriously low and only really started to make acceptable offers when they heard Chelsea were interested.

The Reds made their approach in December and upon the news, Salah was keen to leave FC Basel for The Reds, but after hearing the offer was less than ÂŁ8million, both club and player felt disrespected and were not happy with the Premier League’s behaviour.

Rodgers and co. then made a higher bid of around ÂŁ11million, which was once again rejected due to being too low.

Eventually the 21-year-old moved to Chelsea for a fee over ÂŁ15million, and a source close to the player revealed that he would have joined Liverpool if they showed him respect back in December.

“Salah would be Liverpool player today if Liverpool had been serious and closed the deal in December. It would have been very easy then but after two month of unsuccessful negotiations Chelsea closed the signing in less than a week.

“The player preferred to play at Liverpool, as the competition for playing time would have been lower, but at the same time he is more than happy to be a Chelsea man.”
