After suffering a hamstring injury at the beginning of 2023, Lingard didn’t play much despite signing a relegation-proof one-year deal for £120,000 per week. He had previously struggled to perform at his best, and manager Steve Cooper appeared to have lost faith in him.
Lingard is expected to once again find himself in the transfer wilderness this summer as a result of his relatively brief contract expiring.
