Chelsea are preparing an assault on the Champions League next season by making a £22m bid for Atletico Madrid star Koke.
Blues manager Jose Mourinho has won Europe’s richest club competition twice, with Porto and Inter Milan.
But he was not at Stamford Bridge for their famous 2012 success. Roberto Di Matteo was the caretaker boss at the time.
Chelsea were knocked out this season by Paris St Germain. Last year they fell to Atletico, Koke was in the Spanish side’s squad.
The Bues raided Atletico for a double swoop last summer, signing Diego Costa and Felipe Luis.
Now they may be set to return to take another star.
