Jose Mourinho has personally called Sami Khedira to warn him off a move to Arsenal. According to Spanish news website ABC, the Chelsea boss has joined the battle for his signature, by attempting to convince the 27-year old that a move to Stamford Bridge is the better option.
The news is likely to annoy most Gunners fans, as confidence was increasingly growing that a move was nearly complete. But with this news, Khedira may now be thinking twice about a move to the Emirates. Arsene Wenger is still the clear favourite to land the Real Madrid man but they could end up missing out due to The Special One’s strong influence over the midfielder.
The Blues boss helped Khedira rise to prominence by signing him for Real Madrid from Stuttgart for £10m. The two connected at the Bernabeu and it even lead the German to label himself ‘one of Mourinho’s disciples.’
However, some reports claim a £19.8m fee has been agreed, but with this phone call, Khedira could end up pulling out of a potential move to the Emirates Stadium.
