Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that beating Manchester City would be his greatest achievement as a manager.

The Portuguese has won Champions League titles, Domestic Cups and League titles in four countries in Europe during his managerial career, but he has earmarked getting the better of City would be a personal achievement.

‘It would be my greatest achievement if we beat them to the title this year,’ he told the Evening Standard.

‘We were champions before but we were the team to be champions, to attack the title, especially in our second season when we killed it from day one.’

‘This is a team in development and if you win titles in this time, it is not handed to you. It would be a super achievement. But we are not worried about that right now, just thinking about improving every day.

Manchester City, in terms of power of the squad, are in another dimension. You can’t compare their situation with any other club. Some people disagree or some managers feel they shouldn’t say it but I say what I feel. City are different.’

Mourinho will have a chance to go a long way to setting down that marker when his side travel to the Etihad on February 3 in a Monday night clash, which could possibly decide the title, with such a huge game.

It gives the Blues the chance to do the double over Manuel Pellegrini’s men, with Fernando Torres’ late strike giving Chelsea a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge in October.

Mourinho brought Chelsea their first League title in 50 years in the 2004/2005 Campaign, and then again the season later, as the Blues looked to dominate the landscape of British Football.
