Murphy: ‘Sterling will leave’

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes that contract rebel Raheem Sterling is certain to leave the club in the near future.

After attracting interest from a number of top clubs in England and Spain, it is believed that Liverpool will allow their talented youngster to leave the club as near as this summer, with the player stalling upon a new contract at Anfield.

And Danny Murphy also agrees with recent reports, believing that Sterling is all but set to move elsewhere.

Murphy has also added fuel to the fire by stating that he does not ‘trust’ how the money made from the potential sale of Sterling will be invested, especially after the way Brendan Rodger’s spent the invested money on Luis Suarez’s sale during last summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I’m in the camp of thinking Raheem Sterling might be off.”

“That would be a huge negative. The club then has to use that money to bring in more players, but are the people in charge of recruitment doing the job well enough? I would question that.”

“I know Brendan has said that he does have a say on the players and he is involved in the process. I hope he is because ultimately he’s the one being judged on them. The signings haven’t been brilliant.”
