Argentine set to sign new deal at the Nou Camp
Barcelona have confirmed that star player Lionel Messi is set to sign a new and improved deal at the Nou Camp over the coming days.
The Catalans have been in talks with Messi for a number of weeks over a new deal, and it has now been revealed that he has agreed to a new deal worth €20 million net per season, making him the highest paid player in the world once again.
“Barcelona has reached an agreement to adjust the terms in the contract binding Leo Messi to the club as a professional first team player,” an official statement reads.
“The revised and updated contract will be signed over the next few days.”
It was suggested that negotiations for a new contract had been being stalled, with rumours circulating that Messi may have been unsettled at the Nou Camp. Manchester City and PSG were loosly linked with possible transfer bids for the striker, but a new contract would surely put those rumours to rest.
