Newcastle United are shock contenders to sign Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, according to reports.
The injury-prone star is considering his future away from Anfield after struggling to regain fitness throughout this season, and the constant criticism from Jurgen Klopp has forced the England international to making a decision regarding his future.
Sturridge has failed to remain fit throughout the campaign, missing the majority of the season, and with Klopp expected to bring his own signings in over the summer, the striker could be set for the chop.
A few clubs have been linked with signing Sturridge, including Arsenal, but the latest reports have Newcastle interested and they are reportedly ready to offer around £30million for the 26-year-old.
Newcastle have been spending money in recent months, with Jonjo Shelvey and Andros Townsend arriving last month, and it’s believed Mike Ashley is prepared to spend big again in the summer should they avoid the drop.
Despite his injury record, Newcastle are keen on adding the England striker to their squad as they seek more goals, but it’s believed Sturridge himself would prefer a move to a London-based club as he wants to live back in the capital.
