Neymar is set to face UEFA investigation after his furious reaction on the social media following Paris Saint Germain’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League.

The French side were beaten by a last minute penalty awarded by VAR. Diogo Dalot’s goal bound shot hit Presnel Kimpembe’s arm and the referee initially failed to notice the handball.

Referee Damir Skomina sought VAR’s intervention and TV replay suggested Kimpembe’s hand struck the ball. Marcus Rashford converted the resultant spot kick as a second string United stunned the French side to grab a quarter final berth.

Neymar who is nursing a foot injury was present in the stands and later after the game took the social media to vent his anger. “This is a disgrace, they put four people that know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR.

“There is no penalty. How can it be a handball when it hits his back! Go **** yourselves!”

UEFA released a statement : “In accordance with the Article 31 (3) (a) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, UEFA has today announced that it has appointed an Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector to conduct an investigation regarding the comments made on social media by the Paris Saint-Germain player Neymar Junior, following the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United FC, played on 6 March 2019 in France.”
